Seattle Neighborhood: Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is the hill south of Capitol Hill and east of Downtown. Like many Seattle neighborhoods it is ethnically and economically integrated: stately turn-of-the-century homes stand next to brick ramblers and split-levels. Jefferson Park, a local treasure, contains one of Seattle's most used public golf courses. Beacon Hill is home to Amazon.com and the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System.

Home to an active and vocal community, great pride is taken in the look, feel, and safety of the area. Several P-patch gardens dot the neighborhood. The completion of the Chief Sealth Trail connecting commerce, transit, and residential areas of Beacon Hill is expected in 2006.
