• Eliminate Clutter - You want to create space so the buyers can mentally move into each room by reducing clutter and the overall number of items in each room. Go ahead and pack everything you can live without until you move into your new home. The really great thing here is that potential buyers will be focusing on your house instead of your belongings, and you are getting a jump start on packing for your eventual move. Another really important benefit of packing up early is that every room and closet will appear much larger when there are fewer items in them.
• Spotless Clean - You want your home to be just as clean as a model home is. If your house is spotless, potential buyers will be focusing on your house, instead of any areas that might need a little housecleaning. Wash your windows and screens to let more natural light into each room. Mop and wax your floors. Clean walls and light switch plates. Have your carpets and drapes professionally cleaned and deodorized. Clean all appliances. Tidy up your yard and garage. A spotless house will leave a positive and lasting impression.
• Today's Color - Make sure that any color you paint is one of "today's" neutral colors. You do not want to distract potential buyers with outdated or bold wall colors.
